Snowfall and freezing rain is coming to the northern parts of New Jersey on Sunday night into Monday morning, presenting drivers a tricky commute as they return to work, according to the National Weather Service.
“Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute,” the weather service warned.
A winter weather advisory was issued early Sunday morning for Warren, Sussex, Morris and part of Hunterdon counties. The weather advisory starts at 10 p.m. Sunday and lasts until 9 a.m. Monday in Sussex.
The forecast calls for up to an inch of snow and a tenth- to a quarter-inch of ice.
The precipitation will begin as snow, possibly mixed with sleet and freezing rain, on Sunday evening before transitioning to rain Monday morning, the weather service says.
So leave extra time and drive carefully as you head to work Monday. The weather service recommends checking 511NJ.org for road conditions in your area.
Rain is forecast for southern New Jersey on Monday, according to AccuWeather.
Temperatures in New Jersey are expected to rise Sunday into the lower 40s, then dip to freezing overnight. Look for a rainy Monday with highs in the high 40s to low 50s.
