According to the CPSC, the wireless receivers that are part of the tree light controllers “can overheat, posing a fire hazard.”
The recalled model numbers, which are displayed on the wireless receivers, include:

No injuries have been reported yet, but there were 10 incidents where the receivers overheated and in one instance, caused a fire.
The controllers were sold between July and November at Walmart, Target, and Cracker Barrel locations nationwide and online, ranging in price from $25 to $40.
The controllers sold at Walmart and Cracker Barrel look like a green, red, and white peppermint candy with a candy cane on/off lever with the label “Christmas Light Controller”.
