New Jersey’s lawsuit to stop congestion pricing remains the last legal hurdle to be cleared by the controversial program to charge $9 for cars to enter lower Manhattan during peak hours.
Federal judges ruled against challenges filed in Manhattan, Rockland and Orange counties, leaving either a decision or settlement of New Jersey’s lawsuit as the last major hurdle to be cleared to start the program on Jan. 5.
Federal judges denied requests to stop congestion pricing brought by a teachers union, a trucking association, a citizens group, Staten Island’s borough president and the counties of Orange and Rockland in separate rulings Monday.
