President-elect Donald Trump has tapped longtime Morristown real estate and construction executive Edward Walsh as his ambassador to Ireland.
Walsh is president of the Walsh Company, which Trump — on his platform TruthSocial — characterized as “a very successful” company specializing in real estate and construction.
“He is a great philanthropist in his local community,” Trump wrote. “He is also a champion golfer, a very good asset for the Ambassador of Ireland to have.”
A Bedminster resident, Walsh is a member of the Trump National Golf Club — where Trump spends much of his spare time during the warm New Jersey months — reported NJ.com and New Jersey Globe. He previously co-chaired the club’s Starry Night Gala.
Walsh chaired the New Jersey Schools Development Authority from 2010 to 2018 under then-Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, New Jersey Globe reported.
His business clients included chemical giant BASF, Panasonic, Wyndham Worldwide and utility company PSE&G, said business magazine NJBIZ.
