PHILADELPHIA – The New York Giants have found nothing but frustration, agony and despair in Philadelphia over the past decade.
There’s now a total of 12 consecutive losses, including their playoff defeat that ended Brian Daboll’s first season as head coach, for the Giants here at Lincoln Financial Field. Will this game represent the last one of Daboll’s tenure, or that of general manager Joe Schoen?
We won’t know that until Daboll and Schoen meet with Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch, which is expected to happen at some point this week, likely later Monday or possibly even Tuesday – so there may not be an immediate answer on their fates.
What we do know: one of the worst seasons in Giants history – in a year where they hoped to celebrate their 100th year anniversary – has mercifully come to an end, poetically in the stadium where they have endured some of their greatest heartache in recent memory.
The Giants (3-14) dropped a 20-13 decision to the Eagles, who rested most of their starters, including Saquon Barkley, in preparation for the playoffs. In terms of the Giants’ lineup, their mixing and matching resembled that of a preseason game for much of the afternoon.
By virtue of the Giants’ defeat, they will pick no lower than No. 4 in the 2025 NFL Draft. A Patriots victory over the Bills – they’re leading 20-16 in the fourth quarter – would allow the Giants to jump to No. 3 overall.
The Giants have not won at Lincoln Financial Field since 2013, and on that day when they last did, Josh Brown kicked five field goals, Peyton Hillis was the leading rusher and Victor Cruz was the leading receiver for Tom Coughlin’s team.
Chip Kelly’s offense with the Eagles was all the NFL could talk about. Michael Vick and Matt Barkley were at quarterback in place of an injured Nick Foles. And Eli Manning passed Phil Simms as the franchise’s all-time leader in yards passing in that game.
On Sunday, Giants rookie Malik Nabers established a new team record for receptions in a season (109), breaking the mark set by Steve Smith in 2009. He finished with five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown, ending his first campaign with 109 receptions, 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.
Here’s how the rest of the game played out:
Eagles 17, Giants 10, 10:32 left in the 4th quarter
Malik Nabers is in the end zone again, and yet again, he has done it in pretty spectacular fashion.
The Giants’ rookie caught a 45-yard touchdown from Drew Lock, absorbing a hit at the 10-yard line, keeping his balance along the sideline before diving into the end zone near the front right pylon for the score. He now has 109 catches on the season.
Eagles 17, Giants 3, 14:55 left in the 4th quarter
One quarter left in what has been a brutal season for the Giants. Tanner McKee tossed his second touchdown of the game and the Eagles extended their lead. At this point, the defensive lineup for the Giants resembles a preseason game. The Eagles have been there from the start.
Malik Nabers makes franchise history
Malik Nabers now has the most catches in a single season in Giants history, surpassing Steve Smith’s previous mark of 107 set in 2009. Nabers is at 108 with his fourth reception and the Giants got on the board with a Graham Gano field goal.
Halftime: Eagles 10, Giants 0
A lot of nothing going on, other than Malik Nabers surpassing what was Puka Nacua’s rookie record for receptions with three catches. The Giants have 84 yards of total offense and Nabers is at 106, so he’ll hold the mark for wide receivers. Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers broke Nacua’s record last week and sits at 108 heading into today’s action.
Eagles 7, Giants 0, End of first quarter
The Eagles backups … and Dallas Goedert, who has four catches for 55 yards in the first quarter, including a grab on fourth and 2 to keep the chains moving.
Eagles 7, Giants 0, 6:51 left in 1st quarter
Well, that was quick. After the Giants went for it and failed on a fourth-and-8 at midfield, the Eagles marched right down the field and found the end zone with Tanner McKee hitting Ainias Smith for the touchdown.

NY Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles prediction
The pick: Eagles 17, Giants 14
Why: The Eagles won’t be playing many of their starters, and that includes Saquon Barkley, whose run at the NFL record should take a backseat to Philly’s chances in the NFC playoffs. It’s hard to imagine the Giants duplicating their performance from the victory over the Colts, although Malik Nabers needs four catches to set the Giants’ single season record for receptions currently held by Steve Smith (107, 2009).
