EAST RUTHERFORD – The Giants cost themselves two spots in the 2025 NFL Draft order by winning their final home game two weeks ago, so right now their future decision is at least partially out of their control.
The Giants determined the fates of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen with co-owner John Mara announcing Monday morning the pair will return for a fourth year. Next up, the offseason will kick into high gear as team brass prepares for free agency and eventually the NFL Draft, which will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from April 24 to 26.
If two quarterbacks are expected to go in the Top 3, the Giants will either have their pick for the organization’s future at that position or they can land the best non-QB on their board. Here’s a way-too-early look at how things could play out in our mock draft of the Top 5 picks:
No. 1 overall, Tennessee Titans: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer and Colorado coach Deion Sanders, is a polarizing prospect at the moment. Draft analysts have suggested he has the highest floor of the options available, and the Titans sure could use a QB after the franchise missed on Will Levis.
No. 2 overall, Cleveland Browns: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado
The Browns are reportedly being pressured to win now by some of their top players, including defensive star Myles Garrett. They could decide to sign a quarterback in free agency, bypassing the chance to take a rookie and selecting the Heisman Trophy winner instead.
No. 3 overall, New York Giants: Cam Ward, QB, Miami
Ward is a bit of a project, but his traits are intriguing, especially if Daboll is back to develop him. The Giants were there in person to watch Ward for a half in the Pop-Tarts Bowl last week (Schoen and director of player personnel Tim McDonnell) and he was impressive. Long way to go in this evaluation. This is enough in his game to like and roll the dice on. Also considered Penn State rusher Abdul Carter and the Michigan pair of DT Mason Graham and CB Will Johnson, and then the possibility of trading back into the first round for QBs Jalen Milroe of Alabama or Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss.
No. 4 overall, New England Patriots: Abdul Carter, LB, Penn State
Carter is a stud and would potentially give New England its best defensive presence on the front since Willie McGinest.
No. 5 overall, Jacksonville Jaguars: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
Graham is quick and explosive on the interior, and should have the size and strength to create matchup issues for opponents in the trenches.
