Whenever a team loses, players often talk about wanting to get back on the field as soon as possible. After the Eagles’ 34-31 loss to the Washington Commanders, a game they led by 13 points with one quarter remaining, they’ll have their chance to play earlier than scheduled — even if it’s only by three hours.
The NFL announced Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field has been moved from 4:25 p.m. to 1 p.m. The league replaced the matchup with a key NFC North game between the Green Bay Packers (10-4) and the Minnesota Vikings (13-2). The Eagles-Cowboys game lost some of its appeal after the 7-8 Cowboys were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention before their 26-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night. The Cowboys still do not have quarterback Dak Prescott, who has been on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury, leading to Cooper Rush taking over the starting job.

The Vikings and Packers are both in the playoffs, and the Vikings still have an outside chance of clinching both the NFC North and getting the top seed in the NFC while the Packers have won seven of their last nine games. The Eagles (13-2) can still clinch the NFC East with a win or a tie against the Cowboys, which would also secure the No. 2 seed in the conference, hosting the No.7 seed in the first-round.
Heading into the game, the Eagles face significant questions, starting with the quarterback position. Jalen Hurts left Sunday’s game with a concussion and did not return. Backup Kenny Pickett stepped in, completing 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. However, Pickett also injured his ribs and is undergoing further evaluation. After the game, he said he does not believe the injury will affect his availability against Dallas.
