Bruce Springsteen has been almost as common a sighting on the set of the upcoming movie “Deliver Me from Nowhere” as its star, Jeremy Allen White.
So what does Springsteen think of the actor’s work on the movie about him?
The Boss issued a glowing endorsement of White in a new interview on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio.
Host Jim Rotolo asked if it was strange for Springsteen to watch the actor playing him.

“A little bit at first, but you get over that pretty quick and Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it,” said Springsteen (see clip below), 75. “He’s got an interpretation of me that I think, A, the fans will deeply recognize and he’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun. I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
“Deliver Me from Nowhere,” a 20th Century Studios film directed by Scott Cooper (“Crazy Heart,” “The Pale Blue Eye,” “Antlers,” “Black Mass”), is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Montclair’s Warren Zanes. The film centers on the making of Springsteen’s searing 1982 album “Nebraska,” which he recorded in Colts Neck.
The title of the book and movie comes from “State Trooper,” a song from the album.
“Hey, somebody out there, listen to my last prayer,” Springsteen sings. “Hiho silver-o, deliver me from nowhere.”

When Rotolo mentioned in the interview that White, a two-time Emmy winner for the FX/Hulu series “The Bear,” also sings as Springsteen in the movie, the real Springsteen continued to praise the actor.
“He sings well,” he said of the 33-year-old actor. “He sings very well. You know, and Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young, you know, it’s a tremendous cast of people. They cast the film beautifully, so it’s very exciting.”
Emmy winner Strong (“Succession”), 46, plays Springsteen’s manager, Jon Landau, in the movie.

Young (”The Staircase,” “The Order”), 26, plays Springsteen’s love interest in the film — the two actors were seen kissing on set in Bayonne this past November.
“Deliver Me from Nowhere” continues filming in Jersey this month. Locations used in the film include Springsteen’s old haunts in Asbury Park and his hometown of Freehold, but also incorporate various parts of Jersey beyond Monmouth County, including Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Union and Morris counties.
When Springsteen visited the set in Bayonne in November, he greeted White with a hug.
He did the same for actor Stephen Graham (“Gangs of New York,” “Snatch,” “This is England,” “Venom: The Last Dance”), embracing him on set in Rockaway. The British actor plays his father, Douglas “Dutch” Springsteen, who died in 1998. Emmy-nominated actor Gaby Hoffmann (”Transparent,” “Girls”), plays Adele Springsteen, Springsteen’s mother, who died in 2024.
Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser (“Richard Jewell,” “Black Bird”) plays Mike Batlan, the guitar tech who set up the recording equipment in the Colts Neck home that Springsteen rented during the recording of “Nebraska.” Johnny Cannizzaro (Nick DeVito in the film adaptation of “Jersey Boys”) plays E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt.
There are also plenty of Jersey connections to be found in the cast.
Wyckoff resident David Krumholtz (“Oppenheimer”) plays Al Teller, a record executive who worked on “Nebraska,” while Jersey City native Marc Maron (“GLOW,” “To Leslie,” the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast), who spent some of his youngest years in Wayne, plays Chuck Plotkin, a producer who mastered “Nebraska.”
