PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Parsippany-Troy Hills School District has announced a two-hour delayed opening for Tuesday morning, with weather expected to bring icy conditions to all of Morris County.
The delayed opening means there will be no morning SKIP program, which offers quality care and enrichment for K-5 students enrolled in all 10 elementary schools in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District.
The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for Tuesday, warning of “very cold wind chills as low as 13 below” in Morris, Sussex, Warren and Hunterdon counties.
Cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could lead to hypothermia if proper precautions are not taken. Unprotected skin exposed to these temperatures may experience frostbite or hypothermia, the weather service said.
Residents are urged to use caution when traveling outside. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves. Check on older family members, friends and neighbors regularly. Also, make sure portable heaters are used safely and never operate generators or grills indoors.
