The path to who will be representing the AFC and NFC in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9 in New Orleans continues to get clearer with the divisional round now in the rear view mirror.
The No. 1 seed Chiefs advanced to a seventh consecutive AFC championship game with a 23-14 victory over the No. 4 seed Texans to kick off the second round of the postseason.
In the other AFC matchup, the No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills took advantage and capitalized on Baltimore’s mistakes, earning a dramatic 27-25 win over the No. 3 seed Ravens.
This will be the second time in five seasons Kansas City and Buffalo square off in the title game, with the Chiefs emerging victorious 38-24 over the Bills during the 2020 postseason.
The upset of the weekend came in Detroit, when the No. 6 seed Commanders went into Motown and upset the No. 1 seed Lions 45-31 on Saturday night. With the win, Washington moves on to its first title appearance in 32 seasons, snapping the longest drought in the NFL.
The Eagles are back in the title game for the second time in three seasons, as RB Saquon Barkley led the way with two 60+ yard touchdowns and finished with 205 rushing yards in a 28-22 victory over the Rams at a snow-filled Lincoln Financial Field.
These two NFC East rivals split their two meetings this season, with the Eagles defeating the Commanders 26-18 in Week 11 and Washington returning the favor five weeks later with a 36-33 win, and most notably QB Jalen Hurts leaving the contest with a concussion and missing the final three games of the season.
