The Rangers (22-20-4) are back on home ice as they get set to host the Ottawa Senators (24-18-4) on Tuesday night from Madison Square Garden.
Currently riding an eight-game point streak, this contest provides a huge opportunity for the Blueshirts (48 points), who with a win, would only be two points back of the idle Boston Bruins (52 points) for the last wild card spot in Eastern Conference with the Four Nations Face-Off tournament and trade deadline both taking place over the next six weeks.
The same could be said for Ottawa (52 points), who are tied with the Bruins but could leapfrog the Tampa Bay Lightning (53 points) for third place in the Atlantic Division with a victory.
