It must really hurt for Giants fans to see Saquon Barkley do his thing with the Eagles, especially now in the playoffs.
When Barkley and the Giants couldn’t agree to a new free-agent deal last offseason, the star running back left East Rutherford after six seasons for Philly, signing a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the NFC East rivals. The deal reportedly included $26 million guaranteed and could be worth up to $46.75 million.
It’s been a record-breaking first season in Philadelphia for Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards before sitting out the Eagles’ final game of the regular season against the Giants, and not going for the NFL’s single-season rushing record set by Eric Dickerson in 1984 (2,105 yards).
Now, Barkley is stepping up his game in the playoffs, highlighted by his 205-yard rushing performance in Sunday’s 28-22 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in a snowy NFC divisional round game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Barkley and the Eagles are now just one game away from reaching Super Bowl LIX as they host the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.
