The first step of a long offseason for the New York Jets is done.
They have found their next leader, hiring Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as the team’s next head coach on Wednesday afternoon.
It’s only the beginning of the process for the Jets, who still need to hire a general manager and offensive and defensive coordinators.
So what comes next?
Another priority is for Glenn to meet with Aaron Rodgers to discuss what his future holds.

And reportedly the Jets’ new head coach has already made it known he wants the four-time NFL MVP back under center for Gang Green.

New York Yankees announcer Michael Kay said he has heard rumblings that there is a potential match between the two Aarons in East Rutherford.
“There’s word out there, there’s been leaks I’ve heard, that Aaron Glenn has made it known that he would like to keep Aaron Rodgers,” Kay said on his radio show Monday afternoon.
If it’s true, it would shape expectations for the Jets in 2025.
It would come after a season when Gang Green had preseason Super Bowl aspirations with a healthy Rodgers under center that proceeded to fall off the rails, as they lost 10 of their final 13 games after a 2-2 start, which led to the firings of head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas within a six-week span.
If Rodgers is able to replicate his end-of-season performance from last year (1,270 passing yards and a 9:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio over last five games) with a much more stable coaching staff surrounding him, the Jets should be in a better position to challenge the Bills for an AFC East division title and be contenders in the AFC playoff picture.
